You can
get a glimpse into Pattis life by listening
to Source
of Strength, her latest release. It
takes you on a journey through her prayer life,
and unveils an intimate relationship with God,
which has sustained her since childhood.
When she was learning to sing and play the piano
as a child, her mother, a music teacher, would
not allow her to use the words, I
cant. She had to at least try.
Thats probably why her favorite Bible verse
is the theme of her life. I can do all
things through Christ who gives me
strength. (Philippians 4:13)
Patti has tested this truth over the past
thirty-one years of ministry as a pastors
wife and mother of three sons. She has depended
on God for strength to face lifes most
difficult situations and has found the presence
of God to be the greatest source of inspiration
for her music. While meditating on the Word of
God each day, the melodies of truth
within her heart take shape and become songs.
The inspiration for this album came as a result
of a remarkable healing. She writes, I struggled for the last ten years fighting
the lure of depression. During this time, I
remained active in my church, reaching out to
women and children who needed
encouragement. However, as a songwriter and
recording artist, I was unable to write new songs
or even remember the songs I had previously
written. On January 1, 2004 as a direct
answer to prayer, God marvelously and
instantaneously restored my mind and my ability
to write music. Most of the songs on this
album were written in the weeks that
followed.
Movinin Me was
written in January, and expresses her testimony
as well as her thankfulness to God. The song
was arranged by Roger Grenier, and produced in
time to be sung in Latvia at a series of
womens conferences in March. The women
of Latvia opened their hearts to the work of the
Holy Spirit each time she sang;
Anoint me with
oil from Your never-ending supply.
Pour it out on my
head, covering my mind.
Let it run down on my
face and seep into my heart
With a love that will
never let me go
Upon
returning from Latvia, she and her husband began
making plans to produce a devotional album that
draws on the valuable insights that sustained her
during those difficult times. Roger Grenier,
Leilani Montagne, Chris Glanister and Daniel
Heredia all contributed to arrange her songs,
matching the various moods of the human
soul. Patti explains, I wanted this
album to bring encouragement by artfully
arranging music and Scripture in a way that will
heal the heart and calm the soul. The first
words you hear are from Isaiah 30:15, where God
gives Israel the secret to receive His strength:
repentance, rest, quietness, and trust.
Though it has taken months of hard work to
restore her vocal ability to this point,
Patti is not a newcomer to the field of
music.
